This set of sleek dark wood and bronze dining chairs, with their clean lines and unfussy upholstering in elegantly stitched leather, read as a blend of the industrial and the decorative trends of mid-19th Century France. The contemporary base supports a subtly ornamental backrest, variously configured from spindles and cross-braces

With a tabletop that rests so lightly upon its two scroll-like bases that it gives the impression of floating, the generous dimensions of this piece exceed the requirements of a coffee table and in so doing, imbue it with a presence that verges on the primal. An exploration of the power of over-scaling.
